LINKS TO SITES I RECOMMEND
National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) - A major astrological educational and research organization with chapters throughout the U.S. and an increasing number abroad plus special-interest groups on a variety of topics. Members receive the weekly E‑news from NCGR, alternating between articles and a calendar of events throughout the astrological world, plus a bimonthly newsletter and periodic journals. Many chapters also publish their own newsletters. NCGR puts on national, regional, and local conferences periodically and is a co-sponsor of the United Astrology Congress (UAC). I've belonged to NCGR for many years - it's a great organization!
Astrolabe - A major astrological software supplier. (It's where I get mine!) You can run simple charts for free on its home page.
Astrodienst - Its Swiss Ephemeris is world-renowned for accuracy. (Ephemerides are tables tracking a body's position over time.) Asteroid ephemerides can be downloaded from the site directly into Solar Fire, the main program I use, which is quite handy when new bodies are discovered and for asteroid research generally. The site also offers various types of free charts plus a lot of information for those new to astrology.
Constellations of Words - Anne Wright - I think I have used Anne's site more than any other astrological site over the years. In it, Anne has compiled the mythological lore of the constellations and individual stars from numerous sources and cultures. Bravo!
Consider the Whole Sky! - Philip Sedgwick - Philip is the foremost astrological authority on black holes and other galactic and extragalactic bodies. His work provided a foundation for my doing a decade-plus of qualitative client-based research on black holes. Philip also offers a wealth of information on bodies inside our solar system, specializing in the centaurs, TNOs, Eris, Sedna, and other recently discovered bodies. Check out his star blog, "The Galactic Times," available on the web site and by e-mail. He is both informative and extremely funny!
Fixed Stars & Constellations - Diana K. Rosenberg - Rob Hand once called Diana "the world's foremost authority on Fixed Stars" (an ancient term for the stars, which appear not to move, in contrast with the planets, which is Greek for "wanderers"). Diana has devoted over 25 years of her life to researching the astrological dimensions of individual stars and constellations, doing both original research on charts and compiling star lore from many cultures. I received my foundational understanding of the stars from Diana's taped lectures for NCGR. I look forward to the publication of her long-awaited book, Secrets of the Ancient Skies: : Fixed Stars & Constellations in Natal & Mundane Astrology.
Chiron & Friends - Zane Stein - Zane did the initial groundbreaking research on the astrological dimensions of Chiron, and that work has been the main influence on my Chiron work. He continues to be a leading authority on Chiron and the other bodies known as centaurs.
There are a lot of other wonderful astrological web sites out there as well! Enjoy! We are truly blessed to be living in a time of astronomical and astrological discovery! I will be adding more links to this page in the future.
